Burgh Castle has been inhabited by Iceni, Roman cavalry, Saxons, the occasional Viking,
Normans and who knows. Lovely views over the Yare and Waveney, Breydon Water and the Berney Arms windmill.

Lowestoft Ness compass,
most easterly point in GB |
Lowestoft low light was originally on a timber structure which could be moved as the offshore sand/shingle banks moved. The two lights had to be vertically aligned for safe passage into the harbour. Now buoyage has been improved so that the low light is redundant.

into Great Yarmouth |
In Great Yarmouth I visited an extraordinary artist’s studio and pottery in a centuries old smokery built into and against the walls. Much of the timber had been appropriated from local shipwrecks.
