I took a boat trip under the three Forth Bridges, all wonderful designs in their different ways.

On to the new V&A in Dundee. The Japanese architect was reflecting cliff side rock strata in its exterior design, with the archway under the building relating to Japanese archways. The interior walls are covered with small angled wooden slats with small windows to suggest leaves and giving a soft light. I enjoyed the permanent Scottish design galleries covering a wide variety of objects and ages but gave the Video Games exhibition a miss. Shame on me. A very interesting participatory activity for research purposes was to try various designs of prosthetic hands and express preferences. It was utterly fascinating.

Just outside was the Discovery, Antarctic research vessel - but that will have to wait for another visit.

After a couple of nights at Crinan Ferry for convivial R&R, I have had a restful few days on the Mull of Kintyre watching seals, gannets, enjoying the scenery and making my anti-midge curtain,
