I hope you all managed to see the first post as I seem to have deleted it by accident!
The main reason for heading to Aldeburgh was to check on Snooks. He was the much loved dog of my uncle and aunt who were GP’s in the town for many decades. It was lovely to see him still at the paddling pool and finding that someone has given him a scarf.

I found out later that a few years ago he was stolen. Fortunately the mould still existed and a new casting was made. However some tourists who had heard about the theft spotted the original for sale in an antique shop miles away. This was retrieved and put back in position, the second casting being kept in reserve. It is lovely to think how much care has been taken.

An added bonus was buying locally caught and smoked fish from the fishing huts on the beach.

Further along is the impressive scallop sculpture by Maggi Hambling with the Peter Grimes quote “ I hear those voices that will not be drowned.”

Having delivered some pictures to Snape Maltings concert hall
and arts complex I walked along the river to Iken Church.

I couldn’t find out the purpose of this building although
somebody thought it was to do with salt trading.
I have been staying overnights in nearby Tunstall Forest accompanied mainly by dog walkers and off road cyclists.
